Valkey (AWS ElastiCache)
Component description
Valkey is an open source, in-memory, high performance, key-value datastore. It is a drop-in replacement for Redis OSS. It can be used for a variety of workloads such as caching, session stores, and message queues, and can act as a primary database. Valkey can run as either a standalone node or in a cluster, with options for replication and high availability.
ElastiCache Serverless for Valkey is priced 33% lower and node-based ElastiCache for Valkey is priced 20% lower than other supported engines.
Variants
Single: simple, inexpensive and vertical scalable solution
Replication Group: failover redundancy and vertical scaling for mission critical standard applications
Cluster Mode: best redundancy via replication, sharding and multi-master plus vertical scaling, but more complex integration
Serverless: AWS Managed Cluster Mode, which automatically stores data redundantly across three Availability Zones and provides a 99.99% availability Service Level Agreement (SLA)
